What Sellers Really Want (And It’s Not Always More Money)

Ask most people what sellers want and they’ll answer the same thing: “the highest offer.”

That answer is only partially correct 🤔

Sellers want confidence.

They want confidence that:

  • The buyer can obtain financing
  • The appraisal will support the price
  • The inspection won’t derail the transaction
  • Deadlines will be met
  • The closing will actually happen

A seller who accepts an offer is essentially taking their home off the market. If the deal falls apart weeks later, they’ve lost valuable time and momentum.

That’s why many sellers prioritize certainty over maximum dollars.

A buyer who demonstrates preparedness, professionalism, and financial stability often creates more confidence than a buyer who simply submits the highest number.

In competitive markets, confidence frequently wins.
